Fit Retail and Color Digital become partners

Fit Retail has signed a new partnership with Color Digital as an official trainer for their DMIx Cloud solution.

The digital supply chain requires a specific ecosystem to ensure the fluidity of data between the brand and its suppliers. Moving from physical to virtual collection development is not an easy task; the implementation must be structured and well organised for a success story.

Libraries of digital materials and pattern blocks must be ready upfront. Indeed, the accuracy of the materials and the fit of a digital collection will enable brands to do without the insane number of prototypes to validate the model and thus reduce its development cost and time-to-market.

Furthermore, exchanges with suppliers remain important during the development of virtual collections so that they can be industrialised.

Having made this observation, we decided to look for solutions and finally entered into a partnership with Color Digital. Color Digital, a design software company, was born in 2013 when Olaf Kölling, a computer scientist and colorimetry expert, and Gerd Willschütz, a designer, met in Cologne.

Their solution DMIx Cloud (Digital Meta Interaction) was born in 2018 with the aim of facilitating the digital flow between brands and their manufacturers. It is a tool to control, source, create and develop digital materials, components and finished products.

Colorimetry is a subject that weighs on the production time of materials. The technology used within DMIx Cloud offers the ability to accurately reproduce colours and textures as close to the real thing as possible, thanks to the interpretation of physical material data and colour shades. This will reduce the need to run a multitude of lab dips and enable visibility of bulk production quality.

In this context, Fit Retail is becoming the official trainer for Digital Color’s DMIx Cloud solution and will be in charge in training brands and suppliers around the world.
