The European stop of PI Apparel 2019 took place last 8th and 9th of October near Milan, at the Lake Maggiore.
For the second year in a row, we attended this key event gathering the major players of fashion.

During this two days, our teams participated to conferences about technologies implemented by the world’s leading brands and discussed with partners. But we were also there to present our expertise and meet customers, around demonstrations of our digital solutions.

We had the opportunity to meet IT and design people from major brands as : Amer Sports, Salomon, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Swarovski, G Star Raw, Marc Cain, Adidas, PVH, Mango, Gant, Lacoste, Decathlon etc. We created a business case in collaboration with the designer Sophie LEGOFF. The scenario included 2D Design with Adobe Suite, PLM (mainly Centric and FlexPLM), collection plan, 3D Design with Clo3D, data with PowerBI, PIM with Quable and augmented reality with ChangeOfParadigm.

We shared with them our ambition : to be focused on product development and facilitate the use of IT tools.

Regarding the conferences, brands and suppliers have presented their state of art one after another. As last year, 3D technology was the main topic of interest with now strong investments and successful implementations. As demonstrated by the virtualisation company 3D The Fabricant, solutions have improved and prices become more accessible.

The PVH Group uses 3D on the global product process from design to marketing. At the same time, for the Wholesale activity, PVH implements a digital showroom solution worldwide. “Designing in 3D from the begining allows PVH to develop better collections, to improve the communication during internal reviews and to use contents to put on the market collections without any physical product” says Dominic SLUITER, Stitch Director (PVH Digital Transformation).

In Hugo Boss Group, virtual reality is used to train the factory staff quickly on assembly technics according to market needs. Decathlon has implemented 3D conception for part of its products and start measuring the benefits. The main challenge is to integrate 3D tools with PLM. Any solution is currently fully operational.

Emergence of 3D in fashion industry will also lead to a reflection on processes, organizations and working methods. These are the priority topics we will work on, through our consulting and support services and project implementations of market leading solutions.
